Early Galactic Evolution of Carbon, Nitrogen and Oxygen
We present results on carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen abundances for a sample of unevolved metal-poor stars with metallicities in the range −0.3< [Fe/H]< −3. Oxygen abundances derived from different indicators are compared showing consistently that in the range 0.3 >[Fe/H]> −3.0, the [O/Fe] ratio increases from approximately 0 to 1. We find a good agreement between abundances based on the forbidde...
متن کاملElemental abundances of carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen in carbon stars
The elemental abundances of carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen in three carbon stars (TX Psc, V Aql, and BL Ori) are determined from high-resolution infrared spectra in a selfconsistent manner, with the dependence of the atmospheric structure on the chemical composition fully taken into account. For this purpose, we have constructed a grid of line-blanketed model atmospheres using a revised Band Mode...
متن کاملOxygen, Carbon and Nitrogen evolution in galaxies
We discuss the evolution of oxygen, carbon and nitrogen in galaxies of different morphological type by adopting detailed chemical evolution models with different star formation histories (continuous star formation or starbursts). In all the models detailed nucleosynthesis prescriptions from supernovae of all types and lowand intermediate-mass stars are taken into account. We start by computing ...
متن کاملOxygen Adsorption on Nitrogen Containing Carbon Surfaces
Introduction The reaction of O2 with carbonaceous surfaces has been widely studied due to its important application in industry. In general, O2 is first chemisorbed on an electron-rich site of the carbon basal plane of graphite and then, it dissociates into oxygen atoms. Oxygen will diffuse on the surface until finds a structural defect to form covalent bonds. If temperature is appropriated, CO...
